GTI Project

A secret engineering lab with a huge Scalextric racetrack where you can race a miniature Golf GTI. Very addictive and watching the ‘secret’ technicians picking up your Scalextric car when you crash is brilliant. Very well executed, but the times on the leaderboard are impossibly fast! The Beatles: RockBand

An amazing amount of effort must have gone into this. The Beatles: RockBand trailer follows the beatles from their early material to breaking America and ultimate superstardom. The animation is amazing showing a great mix of both 2D & 3D, influenced by the continuous changing style of The Beatles music.

Produced by Jamie Hewlett the comic book artist, designer and co-creator of the Gorillaz. A must-see for Beatles fans and animation lovers.

prologue

Some of the most memorable motion picture title sequences recently (think Seven, The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Mummy, Spiderman) have been produced by Kyle Cooper. He is often compared to Saul Bass and his relatively new solo venture is Prologue. Go check it out!

An incredible amount of consistently good work from design duo Dixon Baxi can be seen on their site. They have just done a great job rebranding UK television channel Five, have completed equally great work for the likes of SciFi Channel, MTV, VH1 and Last FM.

This is certainly worth a look wether your a fellow design professional or a budding graphic designer.

Continuing the motion graphics theme here is a superb online portfolio from Christopher Hewitt. I used to do a bit of work with Chris when he was primarily a web designer but his change of direction into the motion world has certainly been a wise choice.
Lots of great work, insight with Chris also featuring as a regular speaker on the motion festivals circuit.

Art of the Title

Webby sent a great link to me yesterday, The art of the Title Sequence website which is a fantastic collection of some of the best film intro titles. A beautiful execution of this discipline is for the movie Stranger than Fiction starring WIll Ferrell by mk12 studio. Really reminds me of the work by Kyle Cooper.

Objectified

objectified

Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our relationship to manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about industrial designers, the people who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.
